15-08) The Tofield Satellites exacted some revenge from last year's playoffs,
as they completed an opening round upset of the Irma Aces Friday night at the
Tofield Arena. Last spring, in the semifinals, the Satellites built up a 3-1 series lead, but the Aces came back taking game seven in Tofield. This year, the sixth place Satellites were up 2-1 in the best of five series, and managed to clinch on home ice posting a 5-2 win over the third place Irma Aces. Ryan Olson led the way offensively with two goals and an assist. The assist was a beauty, as he set up defenceman Bryan Lewis with a goal-mouth pass for the game winner with 2:32 to go in the second period. Mark Horricks and Chad Anderson also scored for the Satellites who move on to face the Provost Blades next round. Ryan Muri was solid in net stopping 32 shots. Dan Betz and Morgan Mackay replied for the Aces. Provost advanced to the semifinals with a 6-3 victory over the Coronation Royals. |
