10-08) The Tofield Satellites scored six power play goals en route to a 10-4 win
over the Irma Aces Sunday night. The win ties the best of five opening round playoff
series at one win each. Ryan Olson led the way scoring four goals and adding two assists for Tofield. Olson notched a rare natural power-trick for Tofield: that is scoring three consecutive goals, all on the powerplay to blow a 2-2 game wide open. The game got off to an ugly start however. Tofield's Mike Granberg scored the opening goal just 49 seconds into the first period. As Granberg raised his arms to celebrate the goal, he was cross checked from behind head first into the crossbar from behind. The game was delayed for eight minutes as the linesmen scraped blood off the ice. Granberg did not return to the game. The League has decided that a suspension was not warranted on the play. Brian Tavaroli and Doug Woiken scored two goals each while Bryan Lewis tallied a single for the Satellites. Clay Holt notched a pair of goals while Shaun Martin and Jesse Gulbraa added singles for Irma. Game three goes Tuesday night at the Mannville Recreation Centre. On Saturday, the Aces scored twice in the third period to rally for a 2-1 win in Tofield. |
