| The
Tofield Satellites rallied with three third period goals for a 6-4 road win over
the Irma Aces in Battle River Hockey League action Saturday night. The chippy
game had many story lines including the renewal of the rivalry between the two
teams from last year's playoffs. Down 4-3 heading into the third period, Brian Borton scored on a penalty shot with 10:10 left to tie the game. Then Ryan Olson scored off a face-off feed from Jeff Van Engelen with 4:10 to put the Satellites in front for good. Ken Braget rounded out the scoring with 3:20 to improve Tofield's record to 2-0. Braget also got into a scrap with Irma's #12 Chad Lawson with 1.8 seconds left after Lawson steamrolled Satellites goalie Jeremy Thom. Lawson drew a 5 minute goaltender interference penalty and is a likely candidate for a league suspension. He was guilty of the same offense in last spring's playoff series against Tofield. As a result of the emotions on the ice, the referee called the game with 1.8 seconds to go. Chad Anderson, Bryan Fitzgerald and Brian Tavaroli also scored for the Satellites, while Darcy Gulbra, Christofer MacKay, Dan Betz and Kyle Parsons replied for the Aces. |
